I have been offered 2 sets of ex demo TQ Black XLR balanced cables has anyone got any knowledge/experience of them? I'm considering them to connect my 2 main bi amped front channels between my AV888 and P777 I had a play recently with the TQ Black Diamond RCA i/c's and I couldn't get on with them in my system. That statement is utterly useless because they bear no relation whatsoever to the TQ Black balanced XLR cables you are asking about Trev, because there isn't a natural heirarchy amongst the TQ products as far as I can tell and they are more arranged by "flavours". I did have the TQ Blue speaker cables and "upgraded" (or so I thought) to TQ Black speaker cables, but found the Black was much softer sounding than the Blue, so back I went. I now have the Ultra Blacks and that is another ball game entirely, a world away from the Blue and Blacks. I have a high regard for TQ products myself, so my own thoughts are that you do need the option to return or exchange your choice if the "flavour" doesn't suit you and your system.

mmmm ok Rob i will take that on board I know i can certainly demo them instore with their Arcam amp I will have to check if I can bring them home and play with them with the option of taking them back if i don't like the sound Only looking after your interests Trev Ex-demo and discounted or not, the cables MUST suit your system because that is the whole point of introducing new components in there. It is very difficult if not impossible to predict remotely by someone else (me!) what any new component will sound like when actually in situ, especially so when other items in that system will also play a huge part in shaping that final sound you are hearing. I think I know the basic characteristics of Arcam amps and presumably that is what you like about them too, so adding other components that tamper with or do not synergise with that sound is not really to be recommended.

I will be bringing home 2 sets of Tellurium Q Ultra Black XLR balanced cables to try next week at the moment I'm using 7 silver mogwai cables to connect the 7 channels (http://www.iglooaudio.co.uk/product/silver-mogwai/) connecting my AV888 and P777 together and i want to concentrate on the 4 amplified channels which are running my front 2 speakers( I'm spending a lot of time recently listening to all my music in direct stereo) I feel that since I upgraded the I/C between the CD and the AV unit to SLIC I/C that the xlr cables may be the next weak link in the chain You are probably about as wise as I am how much of an upgrade it's going to be to the TQ's from the Mogwai cables Trev, as I have never heard of them before. There isn't that much detail of the Mogwai's cable construction, in fact there is more info about the plugs and solder than the wire itself and the cynic that I am isn't always taken in by the word "Silver" included in the name. Chord Company take note Balanced XLR cables haven't been quite as good at showing up cable differences as RCA cables do in my experience due to the topology of the fully balanced circuitry and it's noise/distortion capability. The proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say . . . . . .
