Experience tells us that the room the system is housed in also plays a major role in sound quality. For example, a sparsely furnished room without carpeting produces a 'thin' sort of sound with indistinct stereo imaging. A clap of the hands produces audible echoes around the room which tells you that the room will play a fundamental role in the final sound a hi-fi system produces - no matter how much you may spend on the system itself. Another example is a room with alcoves or bay windows which may produce a 'boomy' sort of bass, so we can apply room treatments in the form of absorption panels and bass traps to help reduce those effects. The photo below shows bass traps in the corners and an absorption panel behind the system to help alleviate reflections. I would imagine this installation is for a show as a 'quick fix', although your own room may need a different set of diffusers and traps. Note also the mat in front of the system which also helps to break up reflections from the floor.

I think i understand.
Did the clap test and i heard nothing as far as echoes so my room must be ok.

It is surprising how just by moving speakers out a few inches more from the wall can tidy up the sound, as can a rug in front of the speakers.

bought a new bookcase so had to move things around and now i am listening across the room instead of down it. don't really know if it is better or not but the bass has improved
